Oh jet-lag, how I loathe thee. Our first night here, after the long day and night of travel, the boys (and we) slept so well! I couldn’t believe it! Ok, this won’t be so bad, I thought.
Then came night #2. I put Rafi down in his pack and play at 7pm and he went down quite easily. Hooray! But at 9, we heard the familiar cry…he was up. I guess he thought that was just a nap (his body thought it was 11am). Worked on getting him back down, but he just thought it was play time. Meanwhile, Jeff was working on getting Isaac to go to bed in the other room. Here’s how the rest of the night went:
9:00-10:00 Try and fail to get Rafi back down in his pack and play.
10:00-11:00 Give up and lay down with him in bed, being about to pass out myself.
11:00-11:05 Rafi crawls all over me, tries to crawl off the bed, giggles hysterically when I pull him back from the edge, tries to grab my cell phone which is playing the white noise rain sounds he listens to at night since his regular sound machine got fried by the plug here from the different electricity, whacks me in the face with his blankie a few times.
11:05-12:00 Repeat above several dozen times. At least all is quiet from the next room. Isaac must be asleep — phew! Rafi finally falls asleep at midnight.
12:05 Pitter patter of feet…Isaac comes in the room. Please don’t wake Rafi, please don’t wake Rafi, I silently pray. Isaac crawls in bed with us and thankfully does not wake Rafi.
12:05-2:30 Everyone sleeping!
2:30 Isaac wakes up and says he’s extremely hungry. Rafi wakes up. I go to the kitchen to get some snacks which we eat in bed in the dark…trying to still pretend it’s sleeping time. Yeah right. Jeff comes in a few minutes later. We all eat snacks in bed for awhile.
5ish I think we all fall back to sleep…can’t really remember. Sigh. Hopefully tomorrow night will be better!
What is a’pack and play?’

Martha, a pack and play is a type of portable crib/cot…they provided us with one here.

Hmm…not quite sure. I think maybe about 3 or 4 days.
