We woke up Sunday with no real plans in mind, so we hung around our place for a bit and then after Rafi woke up from his morning nap, we decided to head out for some brunch. We had passed a few cute places with good reviews just a few minutes walk from where we are staying, so decided to try one of those. The place we settled on was called The Bath and is a cute little restaurant/pub with outdoor seating on a patio and beautiful hanging flower baskets. I’ve been struck with how much outdoor seating you find here, at cafés, pubs, age restaurants. The weather has been gorgeous so not sure if the outside thing will still hold true in the rain, but for now we try to take advantage of it, as it seems most Dubliners are. Lots of people were out for brunch and already starting in on beer even at 11 in the morning!
Speaking of beer, we read about an Irish craft beer and cider festival going on this weekend so after brunch we decided to check it out. It seemed like a fun Dublin experience and clearly the middle of the day was not too early to start drinking here. When in Rome…(or Dublin in this case :))
The festival was nice and really chill. There were about 30 small breweries from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland, and we were given souvenir glasses to take around for sampling and buying. It was cool meeting people from and hearing about a bunch of different counties around the country — Cork, Donegal, Kerry, Armagh, to name a few. It got me looking forward to going out and exploring around the country. We tasted an IPA, a lager, an oatmeal stout, and a few ciders that we liked. Plus there was a good band playing covers of Neil Young, the Band, Van Morrison, Simon and Garfunkel, and Tom Petty. Pretty good day if you ask me.
