We’ve been on summer break from school for awhile now, so both boys have been with me at home. Many of the days we were traveling, and now we are busily packing for our move home. But in between trips, we slipped into a summer routine of slow days doing not much in particular. With play dates here and there and walks to our local coffee shop being the main activities, it’s easy to feel like the school year routine is far in the past. But looking back over photos from the school year, I was remembering how Rafi and I filled our time while Isaac was in school during the day.
Many days Rafi and I would go get coffee, either by ourselves or with friends. Another regular outing was to the grocery store, where Rafi loved pushing his own little cart (trolley as they call it here), and helping me load up groceries. Parks on sunny days or a playgroup on rainy days. And then we also did a few classes, like gymnastics with some of our friends, as well as music class. Playing at home and naps were also part of the routine, and then before we knew it it was time to pick Isaac up at school.
I’m definitely glad I had these special one on one times with Rafi! I’m not sure if he’ll remember our years in Dublin, but I’ll certainly remember these early years and the memories I’ve had with him during the days.
