Jeff’s birthday

It’s a few weeks ago now, but we had a great time celebrating Jeff’s birthday weekend! Normally we’d plan a date night, but with our regular sitter out of town for all of August, we decided to make it a family celebration this year.

We decided to try to do a hike of some sort and a family movie. Jeff’s actual birthday was on a Sunday but the weather forecast was supposed to be rainy that day (but sunny the day before) so we decided to go for the hike on Saturday to kick off the birthday weekend. We went down to the town of Bray, where there’s a lovely spot to hike called Bray Head, with great views of the water and of Dublin. It was a gorgeous sunny day so there were lots of people out, plus there was a huge fun fair happening so lots of people were checking that out. After our (fairly short) hike, we spent a little time on the rocky beach throwing rocks in the water.

Sunday (Jeff’s actual birthday) was indeed a bit rainy, so we started our day with brunch at one of our favorite neighborhood spots called Papillon. After some relaxing and hanging at home, we went to see the movie Inside Out (so good!). I was amazed the boys both sat through the whole thing and enjoyed it a lot (it was really the first movie Rafi has watched from beginning to end…I think his favorite part may have been the “pop-torn” though :)). We tried to go to one of our favorite restaurants, Paulies, for their delicious pizza, but didn’t realize we would need a reservation early on a Sunday evening. So plan B: we got the pizza to take home.

We finished off the birthday festivities with some homemade cupcakes Isaac and I had baked earlier to surprise Jeff. What a yummy and fun birthday weekend celebrating our favorite guy! Happy birthday Jeff!!
