Airfield Farm

On our last day staying in our temporary housing, we decided to visit Airfield Farm, which is a working farm in the south suburbs of Dublin. Once we move to our house, which is on the north side, it’ll be harder to get to areas in the south, so we have been trying to visit those places while we were staying more centrally in town.

The farm has a cafe with a nice garden outside where you can sit and eat (which is what we did) or a more formal sit-down restaurant where they use all ingredients from the farm. It looked yummy but with the kids I just opted for the quick cafe option.

After having lunch, we went to explore the farm. There are beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, animals like cows, sheep, and chickens, and a house where the original 19th century residents lived and is now kind of a museum about their lives. It was a great farm for kids too, with a fun covered play area, a big hill for climbing and running around, and lots of woods and green spaces to roam. It started raining pretty hard in the middle of our time there, so we didn’t get to see the farm fields for too long, but we did have a great time playing in the play area. They also have education programs and classes for kids about farming, so maybe we will check those out at some point.

Then we headed back to town on the tram (called the Luas) which Isaac enjoyed riding a lot!
